Mission

The Minneapolis Chapter – Men Against Destruction Defending Against Drugs and Social-Disorder (MAD DADS) serves the community with integrity and dedication.

Vision

To be an organization that serves the community with integrity and dedication by providing safety, positive youth programming, and job creation.

About

MAD DADS, Inc. was founded in May 1989 by a group of concerned Omaha Nebraska African-American men and parents who were fed-up with gang violence and the unmolested flow of illegal drugs in their community.
MAD DADS activities are designed to promote and demonstrate positive images of fathers engaging and protecting community, youth and families.

Executive Director: Jordan Borer Nelson

Jordan Borer Nelson was born and raised in South Minneapolis in the Powderhorn neighborhood. He became a product of his environment and fell into a life of drugs and violence that led him to serve 8 years in prison. Through that he found a faith in JESUS CHRIST that helped to transform him into a man who has a desire and a passion to serve the community and create change and equitable solutions in the present and the future. Jordan is a husband and father of 6 beautiful children as well as the founding and current lead pastor of Foundations Church that started in May 2020.

THE HISTORY OF MAD DADS:

The Minneapolis Chapter of MAD DADS was created in 1998 and adopted the goals of its national chapter, Created in 1989 by African American fathers in Omaha, Nebraska. After it's inception the Minneapolis chapter identified a consistent theme of destruction and social disorder throughout neighborhoods in the urban core of the twin cities metro area. This sent them on a mission to be a force for change against the longstanding systemic issues that have plagued minority communities.
